Ms. Oakes' Dec 2023

Its almost Christmas time here in Ms. Oakes' class! This Christmas we have been learning about the Second World War, from art to reading. In fact, we have completely read the novel “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas”. If you walk by our classroom, be sure to look at all of our amazing art! We did some on the children’s podcast “Six Minutes”, made special 'What I look for in Friends' art and our Maths Eyes posters with the theme “Gaming”! Anna in our class has a very special talent, she can play the piano off of sound! All she needs is to listen to a song a couple of times and she replicates it all without music sheets! Awesome!! Finally, we are sending cards down to 4th class for Christmas. But it isn’t quite Christmas yet. Unfortunately, we still have to wait for the 25th of December before we get any presents. Merry Christmas! - Jamie

This month we have been doing projects on Poland in Geography .   We focused on topics such as Polish food, Polish UNESCO sites, etc. It was a lot of fun. The project below was completed by Jessica and Sam. Also this month we have started a new novel, ‘When The Sky Falls’. The book is about WWII and the London Blitz.Joseph has been sent to live with a gruff woman with no fondness for children called Mrs F. She lives in Yorkshire and Joseph finds life very difficult with her. This book is based on a true story. I found this book interesting because we recently learned about WWII and about what happened during WWII. We have started a class raffle for children who are working hard. Roughly every two days we pull out a ticket and who ever wins gets a prize. Last Friday the winners got a cup of hot chocolate. On Monday we put up our beautiful Christmas tree. Almost all of our Christmas decorations are up. The class looks very festive! That is this months blog, see you...
